Scarecrow Fest Returns to Downtown Delavan Saturday September 19th

Mark your calendars, the annual Delavan Scarecrow Fest is almost here! Join in on the festive fun Saturday, September 19th for a full day of fall activities for the whole family throughout historic Downtown Delavan!

Scarecrow Fest is a community-wide, family-oriented event featuring scarecrows on parade and free activities throughout historic Downtown Delavan! With free pumpkins, classic car show, Walldog Mural tours, food trucks, DIY scarecrow kits, sidewalk sales, market vendors, live music, and so much more, there’s something for everyone!

Scarecrow Walk

A Scarecrow Fest tradition lives on. Stroll the bricks streets and meet the Scarecrows built and decorated by local businesses and organizations.  From kooky, to classic, to farm style favorites, the Scarecrow Walk is the highlight of the festival you will not want to miss.

Family Activities

This event truly has something for everyone! Pick up DIY Scarecrow Kits in front of Pet Pals between 11am and 2pm to take home. Shop sidewalk sales at your favorite Delavan retailers, and browse the vendors along the streets.  At 1:00 and 2:30, kiddos can pick a free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  Take a family photo with an old fashioned pickup truck at the Aram Public Library, perfect for this year’s Christmas card! While you’re strolling down Walworth Avenue, admire the cars displayed at the Classic Car Show.

Chow Down

With all the activities, your stomach will definitely be grumbling. Eat your way through Scarecrow Fest by visiting the many food trucks and vendors for a savory snack or a sweet treat. Enjoy offerings from the Barbecue Shack, Mr. P’s, Someplace Else, Sweet Tooth IceCream, and the Donut Truck. Utiger’s Jewelry, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Delavan Lions Club, and La Monarcha will also be selling burgers, brats, hotdogs, corn, baked potatoes, chili, and other refreshments! Can you say yum?

Live Entertainment

No Downtown Delavan event could be complete without some live entertainment! Alice In Dairyland will kick off the day with opening remarks followed by performances by Johnny B at 11:00 am and the Sawdust Symphony Band at 2:00 pm.  The Milwaukee Tool Shed Band will round out the festival with a free concert in the park at 7:00 pm at the Phoenix Park Bandshell.

Walldog Mural Tours

While you’re exploring Downtown Delavan, take part in the Walldogs Mural Tours and Scavenger Hunts! Take things at your own pace with a self-guided tour or join in on the Narrated Tours at 11:30 am or 2:30 pm with Mayor Ryan Schroder for an extra fee. Test your knowledge with an I-Spy style Scavenger Hunt for Kids and Adults while you admire the beautiful murals.  Those who submit completed scavenger hunts will be entered to win a Walldogs t-shirt or Walworth County BOGO Card!

Come on down and usher in fall with the 2020 Scarecrow Fest in historic Downtown Delavan.  Scarecrow Fest begins at 10:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm with free admission and free parking. See you at Scarecrow Fest 2020!
